Stewardship can be used effectively
in many ways to establish an atmosphere of true giving and spiritually-based generosity in the church:
Stewardship can be easily inserted into your bulletin each month to continuously
build and reinforce the theme of true giving. At certain times of the year, emphasize the topic of stewardship by creating a special mailing
around Stewardship with a letter from the Pastor.
Reach the entire church body, including less active members or the home-bound by
regularly including Stewardship in the monthly newsletter, or in other church mailings as a dialogue opener.
Use Stewardship to help develop the spirit
of “giving of one’s self” in Bible studies and other educational programs. Use it on a year-round basis for all of the church’s
educational ministries. |
Use Stewardship as a communications vehicle for community outreach
initiatives, thus building your church membership efforts.
Use Stewardship on a year-round basis to alleviate awkward
conversations during pledge drives or capital campaigns.
The anecdotes and articles in Stewardship can be used by the pastor to
develop sermons, illustrations and inspirational ideas about stewardship.
Supplement annual stewardship programs with ongoing, monthly stewardship messages by including Stewardship in the bulletins or
newsletters in order to build the spirit in between campaigns.
Don’t forget to compliment the message of stewardship from the pulpit with “A
Stewardship Minute.” This will reinforce the message about the “giving” of time, talent and treasure back to God’s community.
The digital version of Stewardship...
Use the digital version of Stewardship to customize weekly bulletins with one story each week.
The digital format
of Stewardship allows churches to reach parishioners via email or a website.
If the church reaches members using both printed and electronic means, combine the
print and digital formats to reach all the members in their favored format.
Stewardship, used and reinforced regularly, will serve as a soft, consistent reminder of all that God has
given us and to return a portion of it to the church and Christian community.
