A lifetime of Stewardship

Submitted by: NancyWoodbridge VA

Christian Stewardship is not only found within the faith community, but can also be found in the public sector. The White Oaks Elementary School has been and continues to be blessed by the more than thirty-year stewardship of Finance Secretary, Virginia Kost. Thousands of students, their parents, teachers, staff and the community have benefited from her tireless efforts to care for the public funds that have been entrusted to her.

During these economically challenging times, Virginia encouraged the faculty and staff who needed bookshelves, chairs or a file cabinet for their classroom, to select gently used itmes offered for free by the school district's surplus warehouse.

Not only does Virginia look for ways to wisely use public funds, but she also gives of her time beyond the regular school hours. She has often worked on weekends and during vacations. Her attendance and ability to answer financial questions at PTA meetings and functions has been greatly appreciated.

Our school grounds and atrium are beautiful in part to Virginia's gardening talents. She has lovingly helped to design, plant and weed the school gardens as well as foster a natural environment that attracts birds and other small creatures, much to the delight of all.

This quiet woman of faith shares her time and talents daily, and those who know and love her are ever grateful for her exemplary stewardship.
