A young man with autism - from a family living well below the poverty line - approached the pastor one morning and placed in her hand a coin that had clearly been in the roadway for a time. Crushed and distorted, neither the nationality of the coin or its amount were discernible. Gravely he told the pastor that he found this coin in the road this morning and he wanted this to be his "tithe to God" this morning. The pastor placed the coin in the offering plate, where it was duly blessed along with the offerings of others.
One of the tellers identified the coin as a "Euro" and replaced it with the appropriate amount of change for deposit. Often those we least expect to give us lessons on sacrificial giving are those who provide the most profound lessons.
