The Executive Janitor

Submitted by: Tonya MS

My father is the janitor at St Mary's Church in Farmington. He's worked for the church for 6 years now. He maintains the grounds and helps out at Sunday mass. He is a prime candidate for Steward of the Month because he is always giving. Before he retired and took the position at our parish, he worked as an executive for Pratt & Whitney in New York. He organized a "Give Back to the Community" day for Farmington where the parishioners all get together and clean up the town. He also helped build the Catholic Community Center, and mans the phones once a week for Children in Crisis. He never seems to have a moment to himself, and my brother and I are always telling him to take it easy, but he seems to get so much out of giving to the church. He also drives for Meals on Wheels once a week. I'm sure there is more that he does that I am forgetting here. But I tell you, that man never sits still. (I think he gets it from all that time he spent in the big city, but he says it's his calling from God)
