Tom had not planned to retire early. He loved his job in high tech and was good at it. Medical issues, however, dictated an unexpected early retirement.
Last year, he stopped going to the office every day; and instead came to church. He was our financial secretary and figured there would be lots to do. Hes turned one of our smaller rooms into an office that he shares with our volunteer parish nurse, rolled up his shirtsleeves and accomplished much. His extraordinary stewardship has provided the following additional services for the people and staff of Good Shepherd: Greening our communications; transitioning records to an online server; increasing giving by 13% for a first-time-ever balanced budget; doubling participants who use Simply Giving; creating the Tree of Life to memorialize members and rites of passage; helping to launch our Endowment Fund; and, reallocating donated A/V and technology equipment.
The honorary title of Information Technology Director was bestowed on him by a grateful staff for daily troubleshooting, finding lost documents and repairing printers. Tom consistently leads others into stewardship by example and through gentle teaching moments. He meets folks where they are and explains how they may participate, providing various entry points for others to become stewards. Tom, our IT Guy, is our Steward of the Month every month! He was served lemons and with the heart of a Christian Steward hes been serving lemonade ever since. The Staff of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Westborough, MA
