An Anonymous Steward

When the Ladies Aid in our rural Lutheran Congregation no longer met several years ago, no quilts were made either. One lady in our congregation continues the project for LWR (Lutheran World Relief). She scours garage sales for sheets, uses mattress pads, old useable flannel sheets, table cloths, discarded blankets and even takes the wiring out of non-working electric blankets to have padding and backing for these quilts.

For funerals, she's there in the church kitchen making sandwiches for lunch or bringing in her salad and cake she's homemade. She and her husband visit the sick in hospitals near and far, attend funerals of friends and acquaintances to comfort them and nearly every Sunday afternoon set up coffee and bars at the local nursing home and visit with the residents.

On Sunday's mornings she might be a greeter, help serve communion, read the lessons, and in years past sing in the choir. At coffee time for church we can count on her to bring something to munch without being asked to do so, and what she brings for potluck....mmmhmmm. She still makes dinners for her family daily, for any extra help that is on the farm, or for neighbors dropping in at dinnertime. She loves doing for others and they love her. Once when a neighbor came over and she had run an errand to a neighboring town, he helped himself to refrigerated lemonade and ate the bars and cake (from someone else to her) on her counter. Then left her a note to say she needed to make more lemonade, bars and cake. This lady does things quietly, but God sees what all she does for others. She is a blessing to all in the congregation and surrounding area.
