When God declared " let [man] rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground" (Genesis 1:26 NIV), He was putting the stewardship of creation into mans hands. Lisa Irwin takes this seriously.
When her daughter was born four years ago, she wanted the best world for her and for future generations. She started reading everything she could find on the subject and put it into practice. Today, she recycles or reuses most packaging, disposing only about two trash bags a month. She shops at the Farmers Market, using fabric bags, and helps out local businesses in the process. She saves her daughters old clothes and makes memory quilts out of them. She is starting a community garden this summer to allow several families to grow and share their own food. As the owner of Practically Green, she teaches others how to take steps toward better environmental stewardship, in simple, practical ways.
Lisa knows that even small deeds, like recycling a shampoo bottle, can add up to making a large difference when accumulated over time and shared with many people. Either way, she is determined to do her part to be a good steward with the piece of the planet God has entrusted to her.
