Dana is the most prolific volunteer at St. John's.
She is the co-chairperson of the Community Life Committee. The CLC manages blood drives at the church every other month. In this activity Dana helps recruit donors, sends out reminder cards to potential donors and to those people who attend. She recruits volunteers to help at the drive to counsel donors or provide and serve drinks and snacks for the donors. She helps to set up the room before the drive and restore it after. She donates blood, and then helps to counsel the donors and serve them drinks and snacks.
She helps to box up the food and toiletries the members donate to a Food Pantry. She recruits volunteers to help load her van and deliver the gifts to the Food Pantry.
She is co-chairperson of the church sponsored Relay for Life team to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Besides being a generous donor, she was a part of all the activities of the team; a bake sale, a raffle, a children's carnival and at the relay she helped prepare and sell sandwiches and drinks. For the adults attending the carnival she solicited items for a raffle.
She helps to plan menus for the Lenten and Advent dinners and helps to prepare and serve them.
She teaches Sunday school and regularly takes her turn as assistant communion server and regularly prepare the coffee, rolls and bagels served after church. She orders cakes to be served after church for special occaisions.
She manages the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and sees to it that they are delivered to the families or a social agency. She manages the Christmas Angel Tree program. She contacts schools and social agencies to locate the families in need, to determine items needed or desired and clothing sizes and informs the congregation of the needs.
