In all my spiritual journey, I have not met a lady like the one I am going to nominate as one of the greatest stewards I have ever met. I belong to a congregation in a small parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, D.C. The demographics of our church has changed drastically over the years from an all Caucasian to a mostly African-American group of immigrants mainly from West Africa, South America and the Caribbean. Most of these people grew up in the Anglican Church and were not used to "stewardship" as such. However, with God's help, the idea of stewardship is being grasped and implemented in our parish very well. Standing head and shoulders above all, is this lady I nominate as a stewardship champion. Her name is Sandra and she is from St Vincent & The Grenadines. She is our Verger, a chorister, a member of the Mothers Union, Chairman of the Worship Committee, director of the Children's Choir and a member of several other groups and committees. She devotes a lot of her time to the development of the parish and she uses quite a bit of her talents to benefit different groups of the parish. For example, she prints and produces the weekly bulletins for all special services single handedly; she trains the Lems and the Acolytes; she has served as a member of the Vestry and has had a tenure of 6 years as Senior Warden. There is nothing that she will not volunteer to do to help the parish and on top of that, she gets her pledge paid by direct deposit from her job. She truly exemplifies the embodiment of a true steward. I therefore nominate her as my "Steward Of The Month".
